Re: Import/Burned PS2 games
They need to get rid of this region crap. If I want to import a copy of a game from Japan, don't they want my money?

*smack* :grr
It's hilariously bad in terms of the voice acting. Action is mediocre...but it looks pretty. :P

Re: Import/Burned PS2 games
Well, this is just great.
I modded my PS2 a while back with a flip lid and have the 'Swapmagic3' software.
Today i recieved my first import game to test it out finally, Xenosaga 1. (It was never released here in the uk, apparently it was banned for release due to religious symbolism)
And... it didn't work
Checked out the swap magic website http://www.swapmagic3.com/ and apparenty they have a free upgrade program for their newest software.
I will see if i can finally play this game if and when i recieve these new software discs.

Re: Import/Burned PS2 games
I got my discs and slim tools today. No problems with any of the 3 games I bought in Japan (I have images of a couple others on the computer I need to burn and try). The slim tools sucked though. I only wound up using the A tool. For B, which holds the disc brake over we just took the spring out of the brake. Could not figure out how to get that bastard piece in. For C which goes down next to the hinge, my slim PS2 has a metal piece in the way that apparently wasn't there before. So, I just opened it up and superglued that switch down. Cheesily rigged, sure, but working.

Re: Import/Burned PS2 games
at least you had better luck than me...
In my quest to play Xenosaga, found out that the new swapmagic discs would still not work. this is because the game is on a DVD 9 disc. dual layered, 8.something gigs.
But, where's there's a will, there's a modchip free way. there's something out on the market called HD Extreme. if you've guessed it, HD means Hard drive and now my PS2 has a 40gb hard drive installed into it (luckilly i had the network adapter needed for this already) and thus using my PC, i ripped an image of Xenosaga, transfered it to the HD and volia, now i can play Xenosaga 1
And a cool thing about HD Extreme, it has bundled into it USB Extreme which allows me to plug a USB HD caddy into the PS2 and play that way.
Oh and it's sweet having all my games on the HD, faster loading times and all you need in the CD drive is HD Extreme, don't need your game discs. (and if i feel like a cheap bastard, i'll buy a new game, copy to the HD and return it under 14 day money back gurantee... if i have space on the HD for it.)
