Windows XP Question
Ok, whenever I logon I have to wait for AOL and MSN Messengers to pop up before I can actually do anything. Is there a way I can change a setting to keep them from opening when I first logon?

Re: Windows XP Question
Start | Run MSCONFIG, go to the startup tab, and remove those two programs from starting up with Windows.

Re: Windows XP Question
well, for those programs in question. if you looked in their options. there's an check box that disables their auto start on boot.
LZ's method is really for the stubbon ones that don't have that option. but still works anyway

Believe me, a lot of people don't realize it. So many professors on campus complain that their laptops boot up so slowly...so I show them MSCONFIG...and they're astounded.

Re: Windows XP Question
I also like System File Checker, type "sfc /scannow", pop in the Windows CD, and it checks over the whole system to make sure no misbehaved programs have screwed up the OS's files.
But then of course (insert obligatory Mac/OS X rant here)
