So.....AIM Triton...

Is it possible at ALL for me to uninstall this WITHOUT uninstalling AIM 5.9, which I actually USE? Cause it's embedded itself in my startup tasks, and I absolutely loathe the interface.

Secondary question, how the hell do I edit my startup tasks to remove it if it proves un-uninstallable?

Run 'msconfig' and the last tab is your Startup items. You'll be able to check and uncheck startup items from there.

As for the uninstall...if they're in separate installed folders, you should be fine, provided the registry has separate references for AIM 5.9 and AIM Triton. And you're right...AIM Triton is atrocious. We're not alone either. Lots of people hate AIM Triton and wish they hadn't installed over their old versions. If that's not what you did, you should be okay.
