Gaming Habits
What's everyone's gaming habits?
Because I'm sure no two of us approach video games quite the same way.
Me, I guess I'm what you'd call a casual gamer in that I don't spend lot of time each day or week playing video games (unless you count the Game Boy I keep at work so I can crack out some Tetris, Dr. Mario, Pokemon Puzzle Challenge, or MahJong when my brain starts to die :P )
I have a tendancy to buy a game, add it to a big stack, and then get around to it eventually. Usually I start a game, play it a week or two straight until I beat it, then it's usually a couple months before I play something else. The exceptions coming with games I really look forward to and get the day they come out, like Republic Commando which I blew through in 2 days...a persoanl record!
The last game I beat was KOTOR2 back in December, since then all I've done is play Guitar hero occasionally (not really a game you "beat" :P ) and I'm currently playing Medal of Honor: Frontline (GC).
The stack contains:
Age of Empires II (PC)
Empire Earth (PC)
Medal of Honor: European Assault (GC)
Halo II (XB)
Heroes of the Pacific (PS2)
Medal of Honor: Rising Sun (PS2)
Transformers (PS2)
Star Wars: Episode III (PS2)
So howsabout you guys?

Re: Gaming Habits
I used to be a big gamer, but I eventually had to choose... Art or games. Art won out obviously. But every now and then I'll play a fun little game that catches my eye. I'm tempted to buy a PSP just for the game Lumines that I fell in love with not too long ago.
Other than that though... No games for me. Art to do.
Shame too... I wanna play Kingdom Hearts II so badly.

Re: Gaming Habits
I usually have an RPG I'm slowly ticking away at. I've been working on Baten Kaitos for months now. Occasionally I buy some twitchy shooter or fighter. I really devote little time to games anymore. Too much anime to watch, Japanese to study, life related errands to do, sleeping to catch up on, etc.

Re: Gaming Habits
I'm a Nintendo addict. Tried and true, I'll buy the latest Nintendo system before I get anything else. Gamecube is a great platform for me, but I tend to rent before buying a game 96% of the time.
I'm more experimental with PC games, and am a definite RTS addict. However, RTSs have to be rather fun to grasp my attention for long.
RTS list I own and(most likely) have beat:
Age of Empires II: Age of Kings and Conquerors Expansion
StarCraft: Original and Brood War Expansion
Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Clone Campaigns Expansion
WarCraft III and Frozen Throne Expansion
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and Winter Assault Expansion
Age of Mythologies and The Titans Expansion
Beyond RTS's, I don't really PC game all that much...the ones I do like are generally graphics heavy for my PC, which takes a lot of the fun out of it.

Re: Gaming Habits
My choice in games can be somewhat random, but renting tends to work better for me, given I lose interest before I finish the game. I've brought a few Xbox games, mostly because I have a Halo obsession.
Games I actually play heavily, and actually finished (Or am working on finishing):
Halo 1 and 2: Done
Metal Slug (All of them): Done and Done and replayed to death.
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter: Nearly done
Tomb Raider Legends: Done in two nights
And my current obsessions:
Dawn of War and the Winter pack expansion.
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Re: Gaming Habits
For many years, I was a diehard Nintendo-only fan. Then a few months ago I bought some other stuff, and my wallet's been in ICU ever since.
I like to go to GameStop and trade in old stuff while buying "new" stuff at the same time. Occasionally, when a brand-new game comes out that I really want, I'll go out and pick it up right away. Usually, I'm content to wait and buy stuff in lots, though.

Re: Gaming Habits
Whoa boy. Well, my console rack contains a Dreamcast, PSX, PS2, Gamecube, N64, SNES and NES...and my handhelds include a GBA SP and a DS.
Been playing a lot of the new Mario game on the DS lately.
On PS2, I'm always up for hockey (have the EA NHL games all the way from NHL 99 on PSX to the current NHL 06 on PS2), but I'll even burn out on that after a long season. The Katamari games are other ones that I can always pick up and play, no matter my mood. Just finished Kingdom Hearts II last week.
As for my Cube, my woman's been playing Chibi-Robo a lot, but I haven't touched it lately.
The other consoles? They're usually just for show unless I'm feeling nostalgic.

Re: Gaming Habits
Oh yeah...consoles...
I've got the PC of course which I only play games on if I absolutley must, and my afore mentioned Game Boy Advance I keep at work.
Here in my Den I have the Gamecube and the Super Nintendo hooked up, and out in the living room is where the PS2 and the Xbox dwell.
And socked away in my closet is my trusty old NES, which I keep only so I can still play Godzilla: Monster of Monsters :goji
