Well Damn.

I'm honestly proud of Starscream. How about that.

Yeah, I think the entirety of Scott's run has basically been about the redemption of Starscream. It really, REALLY was a great comic. Had a rocky start, but by the time it hit it's stride... I thought it was rivaling some of the better issues of MTMTE. (My favorite part was at the end there, with the Combaticons in jail, with a despondent Blast Off on one side and the rest on the other.)

My biggest problem with stories like this, as well as Megatron's? All it takes is some asshole to decide "Welp, this SJW !@#$ sucks. I'm gonna do what no one has ever done before, and make it like it was when I was a kid, when they were cool! And I'll kill a few characters that the cucks like."

Yeah, that's the problem with comics like this. Someone can always come along to ruin it. Still, at least we have now.

And you're right about one of Scotts goals in this run. The letter at the end noted as much, in that the defeat of Starscream was by Windblade helping him become a better person. Which I admit, is much better than someone coming along and punching him.

It's fascinating, looking at all the various characters from the first issue of Windblade to now, not just Starscream. Windblade matured, Chromia realized the consequences of her actions, Waspinator found friends that care about him, Rattrap did the right thing (His appearance on the jail page, just kicking back and relaxing in his cell, was awesome), and so on.

I'm really going to miss Scott.

I'm going to miss Scott as a writer who also appreciated the franchise as a whole.

Prime, Beast Wars, RID, Cybertron, Beast Machines, Animated... she used ALL of it. Hell, she used the freaking Beast Wars McDonalds toys.

So much of the franchise is rotating around NuG1 with a handful of cameos. Seeing an author that got ALL of the franchise (freaking BEAST MACHINES) and used them in new and exciting ways is something that I'm sorely going to miss on its own, let alone that she's honestly the best writer IDW's had in this entire time, and I include Roberts and Barber in that.

If you had told me that a year or so ago, I would have argued. But today... I totally agree. Her handling of the entire franchise was amazing. From simple things like Tall and Fat Tankor, to serious topics like the Blast Off/Onslaught deal... Man, THAT was some uttering astonding writing there. (And Sara Pieter-Durocher has turned into my favorite TF artist, surpassing Guidi and Milne easily.)

And I feel Scott'll return soon. But she's gonna be busy writing Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors for Marvel animation.

I’ve been keeping tabs on this series a bit here, but been waiting for it to collected into a trade. If this does mark Scott’s big exit from IDW, then it sounds like she went out on top. Makes me glad for her considering the firestorm she walked into with having to tackle the hot button issue of introducing female transformers into the universe that Furman had setup.

On top of that, it’s cool to see that she’s also written for the NuRid Cartoon, so her stories have reached an even larger audience. Glad to see her time with the TFs has worked out so well.
