Hascon

Hascon, the "family friendly" event hat apparently replaces all Hasbro's licensed conventions has begun to make announcements. Guests so far include Stan Lee (who has made his "final" New England/East Coast appearance 3 times already), Cullen, Welker, Chewbacca Mom (seriously), some Pony VA's and several Hasbro execs and designers.

Ticket prices ... $60 PER DAY or $165 for a weekend pass. That's general admission. Adult VIP packages are SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS.

Are they nuts? RI Comic Con takes place a month later in the same facility. They charge $140 for a 3-day VIP.

There is nothing mentioned about exclusive toys for any line. You get a bag of Hasbro "souvenirs" with the VIP but no mention of actual toys. Screw those prices. Nothing "family friendly" about them.

One other tidbit is their "autograph policy". It says not to bring personal items from home and only items purchased at the con itself are eligible to be autographed and proof of purchase may be required.

Re: Hascon

I'm not defending it. I will say it's their first convention and they need to stumble quite a bit to get things right... But hopefully with those prices, it won't be like the OTFCC debacle.

Or maybe it will be.

Either way, like Goji said...

Screw those prices.

I guess there will be exclusives, they announced it on Facebook. I couldn't find anything on the website, though.

If true, good frikkin' luck to them enforcing that. Obviously there will be hundreds of folks that want to bring stuff in for Stan to sign. Plus, they're letting in outside vendors. I don't know how many they'll get with charging $1000 for a table, but when's the last time anyone got a receipt for a cash sale at a con?

Actually, a grand for a vendor's table ISN'T that crazy. That's a comparable to Wizardworld prices. To be honest, a few times at previous conventions, a bunch of us actually considered pooling our resources together for a vendor's table, because it was cheaper for all of us than individually.

Still overprices for a Hasbro convention.

I mean, this best be like some AMAAAAZING !@#$ going on there, like free hookers and blow 24/7 and !@#$.

And FREE Dennys and White Castle.

Also read that like SDCC, the "exclusives" left over will be made available at HTS afterwards. I bet we just thought SDCC prices on exclusives were bad....

You just know one guy is gonna walk in, dramatically rip his clothes off to his boxers, and announce "BEHOLD! I have brought something from outside to be signed! Mine own flesh! I shall be emblazoned with the mark of Stan Lee, Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Rainbow Dash, and I shall NEVER BATHE AGAIN!"

OK, so they're trying to keep bootleg (and presumably "third party") stuff out, which is fine, but attaching that to the autograph policy shows that whoever is running the thing is kinda clueless. I've never seen anyone pay to have knockoffs autographed.
