Re: Guardians of the Galaxy 2

I already read up on that one, so I knew that one. But it did lead me to discover the OTHER characters that Marvel can use.

For example, Sony can use Spider-Woman... But NOT Jessica Drew or Julia Carpenter. Marvel only with them, but they cannot call them Spider-Woman. Mattie Franklin and Spider-Gwen are fair game for Sony though. But Veranke can only be used by Fox and Marvel, because she's a Skrull. Marvel can use the Skrulls, but they just can't use the Super-Skrulls. (Apparently, using the Chitauri in Avengers instead of Skrulls was indeed on purpose, and not just because they couldn't use the Skrulls.)

Marvel can use the Shi'Ar, but not Gladiator, Deathbird or anything with the M'Krann Crystal. Firestar falls in a joint custody cast like Quicksilver, due to her first appearance on the cartoon show. But like QUicksilver, her mutant gene is a no-no for mentioning.

Universal has the rights to Bruce Banner ONLY. Not his supporting cast. So uh... Amadeus Cho, Jennifer Walters... All fair game to Marvel. However, Universal also has the rights to Namor the Sub-Mariner and all his supporting cast, hence why there's no Namorita in New Warriors. (Among other reasons.)

But regardless of all that...

I truly believe they HAVE made a deal with Fox and they're just holding their cards close. Just a gut feeling.

Not... Really that much. Apparently I've heard Stan's character's name is Uatu.

Yeah, I've heard that, too. That Stan is a Watcher, and that explains his appearance across time, space, and studios. I was actually thinking he'd taken human form, was chatting it up with the other Watchers until they got bored. So...maybe he's stuck in Stan Lee form for the immediate future.

Well; I was only saying this because, at the end of GotGV2, Stan's role is credited as "Watcher Informant"; not "Watcher" (like how a "Police Informant" isn't actually a "Police officer")...so I was under the impression that Stan Lee wasn't actually Uatu or any Watcher; but rather just someone who reports to them.

Had some hang-ups so I only got around to seeing it tonight. I liked it plenty. Not as good as the first, but assuredly funnier.

That whole first scene with the Ravagers with Stallone in his familiar-looking jacket and "crystal guy" had me thinking maybe...just maybe. Then I heard Yondu call him Stakar later on...

Needless to say, I was the only doofus clapping and whooping it up in a silent and confused theater during the "Original Guardians" post credit scene.

Same goes for the "Adam" scene. Also during that one I was preemptively narrating; "A cocoon. Please let it be a cocoon." and "Adam...Aaaaaaadammmmm..."

Also sorta like when i yelled "WATCHERS!" in the middle of the movie :lol

At least at this point my Wife has gotten used to these reactions during Marvel movies. emoticon

Finally got around to seeing it. Matinees on weekdays are great. Got nearly the whole theater to ourselves. Anyway, movie was a lot of fun. It was so heavy on spectacle & flash, but it punctuated all that with some really good character moments. Loved all the bits between Yondu & Rocket, Yondu & Quill, Nebula & Gamora, Drax & Mantis, Quill & Ego, Yondu & Stallone. It was all real good & helped give the movie some weight. Just so so many great moments & scenes. Even got a little teary eyed.

I hope this isn't too big of a spoiler, but Pacman!! Holy !@#$ that was great! Loved seeing everyone dancing during the credits too. But there was one guy I couldn't identify. He looked like an older man in a plaid (maybe?) shirt. Anyone know who that was supposed to be?

Yeah, I only briefly saw him but it was odd that he was in plainclothes, suggesting he may not've appeared in the film proper (unless he was one of the citizens in one of the five or so shots on Earth).

Maybe one of the creators that worked on Guardians comics? Unless he was the winner of some "visit the set" contest, I can't think of who he'd be, other than a random dude that worked on the movie (like they held a lottery or something).

I'm not even making a joke here. That is James Gunn's dad, James Gunn, Sr.. And the other older woman is his mom, Leota Gunn. He put them in there because he thought "why not?"
