IDW/Hasbro - Revolution
The first all-Hasbro crossover begins in September with TF, GI Joe, Micronauts, Action Man, Rom and MASK.

Re: IDW/Hasbro - Revolution
I don't know how I feel about this.
Sure, this is the sort of thing I've always thought should have been the case, but to do it within the existing IDW continuities at this stage in the game is a little tricky.
In the Transformers comics, billions perished from Meatron's onslaught and it fundamentally changed the geo-political and technological direction of that Earth. So much so that right now the Earth forces are engaged in open warfare against the Autobots with super-futuristic weapons and their own transforming mecha and drone Transformers.
Over in the GI Joe series, GI Joe and Cobra fought a low-key secret shadow-war over most of the series run before a new Cobra Commander brought Cobra into the public light by invading a country before nuking the crap out of it and then turning Cobra into a "legitimate" global military contractor and peacekeeping force while GI Joe has been all but disbanded.
So, my biggest issue is that these two distinct worlds need a REAL GOOD reason for staying isolated unto themselves for so long if they are now going to be shared.
All that being said...this could be pretty cool

Re: IDW/Hasbro - Revolution
Okay, here's my unbiased opinion here.
!@#$ YES! :D :rs
Since the only GiJoe coming going on right now is the Larry Hama one from the old Marvel days, GiJoe is undergoing a soft reboot in a way. Not quite Nu52 level, but more like Infinite Crisis level. (Micronauts already has elements of the shared universe placed in there. (I don't know what they are, but they're there.)
Essentially Transformers is the center of it, since that's the higher selling and more established book. Rom is already off in full swing, and I guess the crux of the crossover story involved Ore-13. (Rumored.) Action Man, GiJoe, MASK... Not too hard to see how these three blend together. (Hell, I think they're already in the same universe!)
Where did MASK and Venom's vehicular changing technology come from? Gee, I wonder? Is Rom connected to Transformers' Galactic Council? Is Venom a splinter group of Cobra, like how they tried with the Coil and Cobra? Did Action Man (Alex Mann?) ever go on joint missions with Col. Joseph Colton?
And that's not even bringing in the comics that AREN'T mentioned in the crossover. (From what I understand, MTMTE isn't part of this, but obviously it's in the same universe. Jem and the Holograms isn't part of the crossover, but it's factored into this. (I mean, I'm friends with one of the creators of the book, and apparently, it's planned. Just not right away.)
And of course, the big question: What about Visionaries, Air Raiders, Inhumanoids and other properties that aren't even comics or viable properties right now? Yup, they got plans for those too. (Apparently, ESPECIALLY Inhumanoids!) !@#$, they apparently have plans for Zoids, !@#$. ZOIDS! The only ones being left out, and for obvious reasons are My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shop and any of the properties that obviously skew too young. (And even THAT first one, if Unicron is indeed here, doesn't MLP have it's own agent of Chaos?)
I guess for me, I'd be skeptical of it all, if not for one big factor: This isn't DC or Marvel. The creative people doing this are already big ass nerd fangeeks of the stuff they're working on. I have FAITH in the creative teams here. I can't say that about Marvel or DC. But I CAN say that about IDW. It's just five to ten properties being merged into a shared universe... That's highly manageable, as opposed to 30-52 different books.
I'm really excited about this. At a time where I've just dropped or will be dropping half of my Marvel books (thanks Civil War II) and the DC Rebirth has made it where I'm down to buying two comics from the coming (I'm gonna miss Black Canary)... I'm ecstatic to have a comic book universe that I can get really invested in again.
To me... This is !@#$ awesome.
And you can bet your dinosaur and kaiju asses that I'm gonna try and become part of this. :)

Could you do no less? :bot
I've been reading a few more things since this was announced and it seems as if they really do have a handle on how this is all going to come together. If it does take a soft-reboot of GI Joe at this point, then so be it. Like you said Mach, it's not as if they're doing anything with their Joe continuity right now. And even though I still love her writing to death, the last series penned by Karen Traviss did the property no favors.
I'm super-ready for some MASK though. I might go back and re-watch the series on DVD straight through again. Wonder if they'll ever get around to releasing the second (race) series on DVD.
Interesting to hear that Jem is being considered as a possible compatible piece...but I kind of got bored with that title after the first couple story-arcs.
