Mako Crab's a Mako Dad Now! Yeah, I was a bit surprised when the doctors said that they were going to be doing a C-section. The due date is a full month away, but some medical complications necessitated it.
So as of 3:45 this morning, my wife and I became parents for the first time! He had to be put on some respirators, because he breathed in a bunch of ambiotic fluid and his lungs still needed some help breathing. But he's already doing a lot better and they've taken him off some of the support.
We have officially named him Tristan Fox. Yeah, both me and my wife are big on animals. She loves frogs and black cats, and I love crabs with their big claws. So Fox it is!
P.S. we decided long ago to raise him on the 8-bit Nintendo when he's old enough and sprinkle in some modern stuff as appropriate.
We would play Mario music to him all the time while he was in the womb. And when I played some for him earlier today after being born, he reacted to it like maybe he recognized it!
Re: Mako Crab's a Mako Dad Now! Congratulations to you and the Mrs.!
As for starting him out on the older games first...I've actually had the same thought...and also whether or not to start a kid with the Star Wars Prequels, or Eps. 4-6.
Congratulations Crabby! Glad to hear also that your baby's getting healthier too! As for starting out on 8Bit games, remember, can't go wrong with Mega Man. Just don't start him on MM9 or 10 and scare him away. :P
Re: Mako Crab's a Mako Dad Now! Ha! The Next Deneration! I like that. :D
Some easy decisions here!
Star Wars Eps 4-6 first. The originals, the classics, and he'll be shocked to hear Darth is Luke's father the way we all were.
Megaman 2 for starters (from that series). Also the first one I ever played, and had a lasting impact.
Other first vid games will include: Mario 1, 2, and 3.
Pacman
Castlevania 1, 2, 3.
Legend of Zelda
Ducktales (PS3 version)
Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, 3, Knuckles
And a bunch of other classics I can't think of right now. Eeheehee!! It's fun thinking of all the experiences and knowledge you want to impart onto your children. :D
Re: Mako Crab's a Mako Dad Now! Forgot to suggest Donkey Kong Country. It was one of the first games my sister played and she loved the monkeys and all the bright and vibrant colors and game play was pretty straight forward.
Re: Mako Crab's a Mako Dad Now! LOL I have this thought that our kid won't be geeky at all. He'll think we're totally lame & be into cars & sports & bar hopping.
Oh god, I hope not!! He's gotta be at least a little geeky!
We've been playing game music to help him go to sleep. And it works really well!
