Capcom Did Not Completely Forget about Mega Man afterall....

http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/mega-man-legacy-collection-3ds

This one flew under the radar (for me anyway). It's the original 6 NES with some upgrades but retaining the 8 bit look. Comes in a standard release or a collector's edition with a gold Mega Man Amiibo and other goodies.

I plan on getting this (the standard version) since I haven't played them in a very long time and don't have any other copies of the first six. Too bad they couldn't have found a way to include MM7. Not sure if MM8 would fit on a 3DS cartridge though.

However, I am disappointed they couldn't include Mega Man 9 and 10. Would have been an added incentive to have a chance to own those two games for the first time ever on physical media. Also sucks Nintendo has not even bothered to put them on the 3DS eShop. I'd be fine with either so I can finally give those two a try.

It would. Even 16-bit cartridges are tiiiiiiny compared to even "small" 3ds card sizes (iirc, the smallest ones are 256MB. A BIG SNES game was 24Mbit, which works out to 3MB) Edit: Looked it up. Nope, 256MB was the DS. 3DS cards start at 1GB. You could fit pretty much a whole library of classic games on one of those.

But yea, sorry, a few ports of ancient games with a challenge mode that's not even the full series, combined with a lame repaint (seriously? You couldn't do it in an actual MM paint scheme, like his Metal Blade colors?) is hardly worthy of a 30th anniversary present.

Granted, 2 of the best run and gun platformevers ever (2 and 3), with 3 other solid games and one meh game is a good buy for the price with the challenge mode and I'll probably grab it, but the Blue Bomber deserves a lot better.

Here, here. How about putting Mega Man Legends 3 back on the table. Or at the very least, how about reviving Mega Man Unvierse.

Oh, one other game they could have squeezed into that Legacy collection was Mega Man x Street Fighter.

Yea, finishing Legends would be great. And with the success of Mario Maker, I'm baffled they refuse to revisit Universe.

MMxSF game was a fan-made game Capcom just gave their blessing too.. and honestly, it wasn't very good. GREAT concept, and fun to a degree, but it lacked the layers of polish and balance the true MM games had.

Admittedly, fan made stuff isn't doing so great either lately.

Mighty No. 9 just got delayed again, and the pseudo-Mega Man Legends equivalent literally seems to be going down in flames due to how the Kickstarter was mismanaged.

And Mighty No. 9's developers announced the latest delay last minute didn't they? I know my local Hastings already had it printed available in their ad for the week and had to post a retraction on it.

Yea, the M9 delay was very last second. We had already put out the little price tag ticket thing for it at work for the new release set.

I can't really call that a fan game since it's Inafune creating it.. it's more a spiritual sequel. That said, he's certainly starting make Capcom seem less like the black and white villain of him leaving the company with these antics.

Found a physical standard copy at Walmart for $30 but couldn't pull the trigger. Glad I didn't because the 3DS eShop has it available to download half price at $14.99.

I downloaded it and beat the first Mega Man game. For what it is, it's not too terrible. I downloaded it for $14.99 and it's $2.50 a game.

I do recommend if you download or buy it, you have one of the larger screen 3DS/2DS. It's tiny on my first run 3DS and there is no option to expand it to fit the screen only an optional border to fill in the space and the border is the only 3D feature of this game, quite distracting honestly.

It promises the games in all their 8 bit glory and they are not exaggerating but one aspect I could have done with out is the game slowing down hideously when there are multiple enemies on the screen.

Also Mega Man 2 is a bit glitchy. In Air Man's stage, you have just a split second to grab a power up before it disappears. I lost two one-ups because of this. Didn't happen on Bubble Man's stage though.
