Regardless of if it's pretty, if it only barely broke even, that's going to be a disappointment. Especially if it's an expensive game to produce. These "sold X-units" numbers are kind of impossible to judge that by, though.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Optimal Megatron)Tue, 26 May 2015 15:54:45 +0000 Re: Alien: Isolationhttps://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p292693,from=rss#post292693https://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p292693,from=rss#post292693Over two million copies is NOT a disappointment. But I don't know- I thought 2.1 million units was pretty good. Especially for having the monumental task of redeeming the brand after Colonial Marines, being a new IP in its own right, and also being a horror game instead of an FPS. I thought it did okay. It garnered tons of praise from fans and critics alike. There was so much positive buzz. But I guess Sega is only able to see it as a failure instead of a new cornerstone to build from.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mako Crab)Mon, 25 May 2015 11:35:07 +0000 Re: Alien: Isolationhttps://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291777,from=rss#post291777https://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291777,from=rss#post291777I've earned every trophy now in the game except for 2: beating the whole game on 1 life & unlocking every trophy. I've set it to novice & trying for the 1 life trophy. Not easy. I got all the way to mission 7, when a random ceiling encounter ended my winning streak. This is gonna be a tough one, but I feel like I can do it.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mako Crab)Thu, 29 Jan 2015 03:27:41 +0000 Re: Alien: Isolationhttps://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291684,from=rss#post291684https://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291684,from=rss#post291684I mean his epic sacrifice, that was amazingly done. and his dying words. I had guessed he was, simply because of the whole "I don't require much sleep" line. Instant tip-off. But no one ever outright said it that I recall. And then one moment, when you're talking to Waits over the radio, he says that Samuels should be fine, being an android and all. And Amanda's reaction is "I guess." Not shocked or anything, like she knew all along. It was just a weird little bit. I was waiting for some big reveal, but turns out everyone knew. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mako Crab)Fri, 09 Jan 2015 11:05:55 +0000 Re: Alien: Isolationhttps://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291679,from=rss#post291679https://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291679,from=rss#post291679I also loved the Bait and switch with Samules. he comes in as "Company man from the company" Which the franchise has taught us to distrust. And then he has one of the most epic moments.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Dark Seraphim)Thu, 08 Jan 2015 22:04:52 +0000 Re: Alien: Isolationhttps://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291677,from=rss#post291677https://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291677,from=rss#post291677And just beat it! Great game, one of the most intense I've played in a while. Though the backtracking did start to get a tad annoying near the end. The ending was really anti-climatic. I had heard that it delivered some sequel bait, but I expected a *little* bit more to it than that. But yeah, I would still buy a sequel when and if it gets made. I do wonder what they would do with a sequel. I would hate to see the game become a franchise that keeps throwing Amanda through ever-escalating ordeals of ridiculousness like the movies did with Ellen. I love how closely this game is tied to the first movie, but they've pretty well expended how much more they can do with that. UNLESS!!! Part 2 is all about Capt. Dallas' son, who has also gone looking for his lost dad!! YES!! That's it! *L* But really, I just loved this game so much, that I want to see the eventual sequel go in the right direction. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mako Crab)Thu, 08 Jan 2015 19:32:03 +0000 Re: Alien: Isolationhttps://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291662,from=rss#post291662https://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291662,from=rss#post291662Ah cool. I had been working on making it through the hospital for days! I felt just the teeniest bit guilty, when I fired a shot towards some crazy people that were just hanging out, luring the Alien into the halls and right towards them. But considering those jerks have been shooting at me the whole time, I got over it quickly. :P I read that the ending is sequel bait material. I haven't spoiled it for myself yet, and I don't plan to. But considering how much I'm enjoying this game, I would love a sequel. Still- I'm not sure what direction a sequel might go. Another 20 hours of sneaking and hiding in lockers? I don't know. I could see the series wearing out its welcome if it did that. Maybe. How do you access the Nostromo bonus mission? (And given Sir Ian Holmes health mean they had to film his scenes for the hobbit films in England, that's really impressive they got him to read lines for the game)nondisclosed_email@example.com (Dark Seraphim)Sun, 04 Jan 2015 22:34:42 +0000 Re: Alien: Isolationhttps://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291653,from=rss#post291653https://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291653,from=rss#post291653Glad to see TCA spread out beyond Total War games, and that Isolation is not the same unplayable buggy mess at launch said series usually is (Note: Aside from the disappointing Rome 2, I quite like TW 6 months after launch ). Might have to pick this one up, was leery after how bad Sega's last Alien game was, but this sounds like it actually captures the spirit of the original movie. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Greatshot)Sun, 04 Jan 2015 18:14:11 +0000 Re: Alien: Isolationhttps://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291652,from=rss#post291652https://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291652,from=rss#post291652Oddly, the Alien wasn't the most scary thing. Oh it was frustrating as hell, but I found that you can wait it out and the less gadgets you use, the less it learns how to defeat/ignore them. No, the scary thing for me was the other survivors with their loud ass guns and the androids. god those bastereds where creepy, perfectly calm as they beat you to death and the tenacity of a damn Terminator. made worse because I got stuck in a room with 3 of them and a Xenomorph, rage quit that room a few times.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Dark Seraphim)Sun, 04 Jan 2015 18:09:08 +0000 Re: Alien: Isolationhttps://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291651,from=rss#post291651https://bdeinonychusden.runboard.com/p291651,from=rss#post291651Me too. Usually I don't even bother with DLC, but I'm excited to see what they have in store. There have been moments, where I've been too afraid to move. I've found myself watching the motion tracker from inside a locker for minutes on end. It's terrifying, when you see that little green dot coming towards you. It's equally terrifying, when you can't see where it's gone. This game really forces you to muster up the courage to brave the halls of the Sevastopol while the Alien lurks about. I haven't played a game this freaky in a long, long time! I'm already feeling the need to backtrack and pick up some of those blueprints for items that I missed, like the noise maker. Easily one of my new favorite games of all time. :D Forgot to mention- used the gift card to buy Super Metroid, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, and Zelda 3: Link to the Past off of the Nintendo E-store. Even when I switch the difficulty over to easy, I still get killed. This sucker is evil. But I've been enjoying the hell out of it! The attention to detail everywhere is impressive. They've managed to recreate the look and feel of the first movie and even added to the mythos a little (mainly world-building with the other company, working joes as an alternative to lifelike androids, all the human expansion into the outer rim, etc.). It's all very good and feels more like a true sequel than parts 3 or 4 did to me. Still no idea why there's an alien on-board, but I'm sure it'll come up in the story somewhere. oooh this game was fun. the first horror survival since fatal frame 2 where I had to take breaks to calm down.
