Re: Sonic BOOM!
Upon seeing the cast, it makes me wish that we can get another show with Archie and SatAm characters like Sally and Uncle Chuck.
Incidentally, I found out in the Kindle App Store that they have Sonic CD available. Beisdes the touchy control pad and jump button on the screen, its not bad. Cleaner animation and Japanese AND US soundtracks.

Re: Sonic BOOM!
Sonic CD is an absolute masterpiece. One of the finest platformers ever made. THAT's the Sonic Boom (speaking of the US soundtrack) we need to revisit.
But yea, I can't imagine it's fun at all trying to play it with a touch screen.

It's really a pain in the butt on the special stages. But yea, if you don't touch the spot on screen with the control or jump buttons just right, it'll screw you up. I've so many rings trying to get used to it.
The lack of Sonic CD, is the only drawback about the DS Sonic Mega Collection. I keep hoping SEGA might someday to re-release it on 3DS.

Re: Sonic BOOM!
At least it's finally seen the light of day again on PSN/XBL. Maybe someday we'll get a portable version, but I'm not placing any money on it. Though if the 3D version of Sonic 1 sells well, maybe we'll get the great ones too (2, 3&K and CD). Fingers crossed for that.

I had forgotten they were going to do a 3D conversion on the original Sonic. I wonder how it looks. I saw they 3D converted Shinobi and Ecco the Dolphin too.

Re: Sonic BOOM!
I'll be picking them up myself when I get paid.. I loves me some Genesis, I'm curious to see how it actually works.
Mostly for the Space Harrier port - that could be potentially really cool.

Re: Sonic BOOM!
So just trotting along the digital cable grid a few days ago, I happened upon this show, airing at about five or six in the morning. No ads for it, no commercials, no mention of it on CN at all (and it's probably channel I watch most). I later discover the episodes air on Saturday mornings (7/6c), then repeat Sunday. So, I DVR'd the two episodes, just to see how they were. I was already anticipating something more squash-and-stretch, given the 15 minute slot.
First episode, watched with my brother. Sonic thinks fighting Eggman is too dangerous for Tails, and holds tryouts for a new sidekick. Hilarity supposedly ensues when both Tails AND Eggman vie for the job.
I want to punch Amy Rose. I really do.
It was not a strong start. I think the CG is fine enough, very vibrant colors, but the characters feel very bland. They aren't quite facially expressive, and their dialogue feels like too much effort to make their funny and quirky, but not a lot in making them, y'know...enjoyable.
This attempt at making Eggman a kind of Ice King knockoff (wanting to "destroy" his foe, but really wants his friendship) is not a direction I would've expected.
Bro and I decide we don't need to watch the next episode. I end up watching it later, solo, just to give it a second chance. Eggman's lair is destroyed, and he needs to crash at Sonic's place.
Not much improvement. It felt like a more solid installment, none of the characters feel balanced. The funniest gag is Styx (who fulfills the "every group of five characters needs two girls" rule) stumbling through the non-word "unoblitoratable", only to settle on saying her foe can't kill her.
Yeah, this is a pass, and I won't be surprised if CN gives this the same treatment they have previous shows that needn't be mentioned. Actually, it feels like they already did, seeing as the only ads I saw for this show aired in between these two premiere episodes. But hey, if the kids like it, what's the harm?
