Generations Foc Combaticons Review 6 of 6 - BRUTICUS!!!
By your powers combined....I am... *SQUISH* BRUTICUS SMASH!!!!!!!
Combined Mode:
Now for the grand Finale...BRUTICUS!!!
As you can see in the picture (next to FoC Prime), he is rather tall and massive looking. Some sacrifice had to be made on most of the figures but now its easy to see why Onslaught had so many ratcheted joints. It helps keep the arms and legs together.
I have transformed him and combined him as shown in the instructions. Blast-Off and Vortex form the arms and Swindle and Brawl form the legs. I have heard they can be interchanged but the instructions on the limb-bots only show the way that is promoted in the pics.
This is where trying to ensure the bots are transformed and lined up correctly are so important. I had a tough time trying to get Swindle lined up where he and Brawl are the same height but still couldn't get it right, so I had to pose him where Swindle is a little in front of Brawl.
Also while the transformation allows Vortex an elbow joint, Blast-Off's transformation leaves no such joint. I have seen other fan-mod modes but as before, I just transformed him as it says in the instructions.
The weapons for all 5 combaticons combine to form a large weapon. One problem I had was the peg and hole where Brawl's and Swindle's weapon's meet. It was loose and would not hold together so I had to wad some tissue to help hold the pieces together.
I did make some modifiction to the weapon. I combined Onslaught's, Brawl's, and Swindle's weapon together and attached to Bruticus's back to give him G1 and Onslaught's traditional cannon backpack. For Blast-Off and Vortex I combined them and put on in each hand for Bruticus to appear to have a pair of six-shooters.
In conclusion, I like Bruticus and I like him better than most of his individual components. That being said, I am not sure whether I would buy another set like this at regular retail and definitely will not be buying the SDCC or Takara versions. Also, if you only want to buy one or two of the figures, be warned most of them are not very spectacular in and off themselves, the two best being Vortex and Swindle.
I would say if you just have to have this set, go for the Amazon/BBTS G2 set where you can get all 5 components for $59.99 which is under what retail is for the 5 individual retail releases. Either way, I think I have decided to cancel the G2 set and stick with this set only.
I give Bruticus :spidey :spidey :spidey out of 5. Recommended depending if you get the G2 set or the general release set on sale. Not recommend if you are going the way of SDCC or Takara.

I really wanted to get the G2 version of this simply because I loved the retro-styling of the packaging, but I could never get myself to pay that much for a toy just for the packaging (not since I stopped collecting toys MISB).
After this review I still don't see myself getting the figure set any time soon... :lz

Sorry for double-posting but I just got the G2 version in today:
...and I must say...this thing is F**KING AWESOME!! Man, I was SO wrong in my last post!! :lol
I am a HUGE fan of the G2 Bruticus (the original); it was one of my favorite toys as a kid that I played with a lot and this really brings back great memories...
The detailing on the packaging is just amazing from the exact font and colors used for the original G2 packaging to the original artist drawing the new toy art for the box to the Bio and Tech Spec card on the back and the old style Hasbro logo...as a HUGE MISB fan I really love this!!
Easily worth the price for me...plus the actual toys inside the box look great too with the same G2 camo-colors as the originals and the G2 Decepticon symbols too! I love this figure and I'm really glad I got it! :D
...Oh, and for those who are wondering...yes, it will be staying MISB. :lz
