Re: Clone Wars Season Four
This weekend's episode had all the ingredients to be great, and some good plot points and action sequences, but it all added up to a big pointless nothing.
I think that may be one of my problems with the series. There's no sense of progression or underlying narrative. It's just a bunch of random, disjointed encounters that occur within the framework of the Clone Wars, and we get no sense of who might be winning, who might be losing, or how things stand from a galactic standpoint.
At the beginning of each arc we're told that this or that planet is under threat, but we don't really know why and we can't say why Planet A has strategic value and is being fought over.
...yeah...I think I'm done. Off the DVR it goes.
Had you told me five years ago that I'd not watch a Star Wars TV show I'd have told you that you were crazy. :ouch

Re: Clone Wars Season Four
It's okay, dude... After Young Justice, I pretty much turn off the TV and go draw or something. I got burned last season with how horrible it was, and I have no faith anymore in it.
I might pick up more interest as we get closer to the end of the series... But yeah. I'm with you.

Re: Clone Wars Season Four
Haven't been watching the new season, but I still like Ahsoka. Strangely enough, I wasn't fond of her at first, thinking they were trying too hard to play her up as this uber edgy padawan girl. But then it turns out that by being an original character not grounded in any pre-established continuity, she was free to do her own thing and no on really knew where her story was going to end. She's the only reason to watch the show.
Obi Wan, Anakin, Padme, Palpatine, C-3PO, and all the rest- we know what happens to all of them. No surprises to be had there.

Re: Clone Wars Season Four
No one else here probably saw it, but last week's had a pretty funny nod to the first movie. Long story short, one of the clones was Han Solo over the comm., and their temporary Jedi General was the guy on the other end wondering what was going on.
Speaking of, my brother happened to be in the room watching it (he's too busy with all that pesky education to watch this stuff regularly), and he inquired about just WHAT kind of connection to the Force some of these non-movie Jedi have. I mean, here we have a frog-like jerkass that couldn't care less about his clones. Then factor in that "rebellious" Jedi that did little more than act like an egomanical ass...really, what the heck?
I understand that not all of these Jedi can be the wise, stoic warriors that barely ever lose their cool (so Rebel McWhat'sHisFace is actually understandable), but Jedi General Frog's-Legs is really pushing it.
As for tonight's installment, an execution was averted...or altered. Did it only occur to me that Krell was lying out of his flabby throat? Come on, people!
Then when all the Clones decide to arrest him, Krell starts Lightsabering them and admits to using them. When they bring him down, it seems he came to the conclusion, on his own, that the Republic's time was soon ending and he wanted to become Dooku's new apprentice. The end was pretty satisfying...kind of half-expected. One aspect I saw coming, but who pulled the trigger, not so much. But maybe that's because I was half paying attention.
The story isn't BAD, but it just seems to drag. There's some stuff doesn't have the impact it should. Best part is never having to listen to those damn "substitute teacher" ads again. Ugh.

Re: Clone Wars Season Four
So now we're on a "slave trade" arc. Probably going to be the highlight of the season. Pacing seems fine so far, with part two over.
Never really notice how improved the animation has gotten until seeing last week's ep, particularly with Obi-Wan.

Re: Clone Wars Season Four
So I fired up an episode of Clone Wars. It had Ahsoka and her annoying separatist wannabe boyfriend in it. Lux, I think his name is. He pops in on a peace conference and accuses Dooku of killing his mom. Gets taken away to be killed. Ahsoka saves his life.
. . . then he shocks her with a taser until she loses consciousness. Takes her lightsabers and hides them from her. Gets her wrapped up in a plot with the Death Watch. She winds up having to be a waitress for a night, serving Lux supper.
Everything goes to hell and they have to fight their way back to the ship. After she and R2 save Lux' stupid life, he promptly hops into the nearest escape pod and blasts off for parts unknown without so much as a thank-you or an apology.
And Ahsoka looks longingly out the window as though she's in love. Oh honey, you can do so much better.
I hated this stupid idiot, Lux, when they first introduced him back in. . . whatever episode it was where Ahsoka accompanied Padme to a separatist planet. I pegged him then as the shows' idea of what the perfect guy for Ahsoka should be like. But they were trying way too hard to make him likable. And here they seem to be going for a MoonLighting type relationship where they hate/love each other. Either way, Lux is still an idiot and I welcome the day that Ahsoka cuts ties with him.
*edit*
After searching the net for more reviews of this episode, I'm finding that most people rate it really high. Like 10/10 or 7/10. Everyone was praising what a great episode this was for all the development it gave Ahsoka and her budding romance with Lux. I was only able to find one negative review, but it was either unconcerned with the issues that bothered me, or didn't notice them. It only complained that an episode centered around their developing relationship came off as emotionless.
So. . . is it just me? Am I being way too over-sensitive here?

Re: Clone Wars Season Four
Well I have seen all of season four now, for the most part it ranges from lack luster to average.
Darth Maul is back with a cybernetic lower half.

Which means that one Star Wars: Tales comic about him engaging Obi-Wan on Tattooine may be canon now. :lol

Except I seriously doubt they'll leave him hanging around in the narrative until Owen Lars caps his ass to protect Luke.

Re: Clone Wars Season Four
His appearance once his sanity and health is restored is pretty much identical to his Tales appearance. According to reports Maul and Savage will be in the season 5 opener still after revenge on both Ventress and Obi-wan
