How do you know when the Sox/Yankees rivalry has gone too far?

When the killing starts.

Witnesses say Sox-Yankees spat preceded N.H. killing

12:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, May 6, 2008
The Associated Press

NASHUA, N.H. – After a Red Sox-Yankees argument escalated outside a bar, a New York fan killed a man by hitting him with her car, authorities and witnesses said.

Ivonne Hernandez was arraigned Monday on reckless second-degree murder and drunken driving charges. She did not enter a plea and was held without bail.

Ms. Hernandez, 43, was speeding early Friday toward a small group but never hit her brakes, a prosecutor said.

"She indicated to police that she wanted to scare this group of people," prosecutor Susan Morrell said. "She thought they would get out of the way."

Matthew Beaudoin, 29, died of massive head trauma at a hospital, Ms. Morrell said. The prosecutor said he was in a group that Ms. Hernandez said she had argued with.

Authorities won't describe the argument, but witnesses said it heated up when Ms. Hernandez identified herself as a Yankees fan. Like the rest of New Hampshire, Nashua is Red Sox country.

Bar owner Lisa Slade said at least one person in a group that included Mr. Beaudoin began a derogatory chant against the Yankees when they saw a Yankees sticker on Ms. Hernandez's car.

Yikes.

Sox fan, Yankees fan, either way...that woman's an idiot. Yeah, I know firsthand of idiots that tried to "scare people" by pretending that they were going to run them over with a car - they were high school morons.

Lock her up and throw away the key; she's too stupid to be allowed freedom.

(And for my snarky comment... Would you REALLY want to be associated with a fanbase that commits vehicular manslaughter on fans of the opposition? Go Sox! :P)

Damnit, you took my snarky comment! :P

Kidding aside though, jesus. I've certainly gone back and forth with Yanks fans over the years, but hitting someone with your car? I think an appropriate penalty here would be smashing her head in with a baseball bat. emoticon
