Tis BS. It's pretty common knowledge in Boston that Arod is NOT a popular man, even within their clubhouse (aside from Ortiz). This article reads like speculation to me.. but most people seem to believe the Sox will try to get some sort of short term deal done with Mike Lowell, as he's very highly thought of in team circles.
He's either gonna play for the Cubs (Pinella was his manger in Seattle and the 2 remain very close), or for the Angels, who seem to the front runner and who Arod was buttering up in their last road trip out there. :P
All that being said though, I think he's a punk.. but I wouldn't turn down having the future HR king in a Sox uniform

Good call, I didn't notice the source being the Daily News. :lol
I'll say this...it would be hilarious if Slappy came to the Sox and just completely tore it up. Yanks would be pissed.

:lol agreed.
Like i said, i dont much like him as a *person*.. he's a tool. But he *is* the best right handed hitter in baseball, and perhaps the best hitter, period. And that alone would make me at least be ok with them making an effort to sign him :P
And, if it's for long enough, the opportunity to see the HR making Balco Barry's record a memory being hit in Fenway would pay for itself

AMEN TO THAT! I don't like Slappy...but I hate Juicy Fruit even more.
I read that the Tigers are considering making a serious push for him to, so who knows? I still think he'll end up with the Angels though. As long as it makes the Yanks look like tools (still 10 games back!), I have no complaints.
